How to Create Invoices in Different Currencies

Selecting a Currency

Click the currency selector near the top of the invoice form. A dropdown lists all available currencies with their code and symbol. Type to search — for example, type "EUR" to jump to the Euro or "JPY" for Japanese Yen. Your selection applies immediately to all amounts on the invoice.

Currency Symbol Display on the PDF

The PDF shows the currency symbol (such as $, pounds, or euros) next to every monetary value — line item rates, subtotals, tax, and the total due. For currencies without a widely recognized symbol, the three-letter ISO code (like CHF or SEK) is displayed instead, ensuring clarity for your client.

Invoicing International Clients

When billing a client in another country, invoicing in their local currency reduces friction and shows professionalism. Include your bank's SWIFT/BIC code and IBAN in the payment details so international transfers go through smoothly. Mention the currency prominently to avoid any ambiguity about the amount owed.

Does InvoiceGen convert exchange rates automatically?
No. InvoiceGen lets you set the currency and amounts manually. If you need to convert rates, use a trusted source like XE.com and enter the converted amounts directly.
Can I mix currencies on a single invoice?
Each invoice uses one currency. If you need to bill a client in multiple currencies, create separate invoices for each currency to keep accounting clean.
How do I change my default currency?
Select your preferred currency once and it stays selected for your current session. If you have an account, your last-used currency is remembered the next time you log in.
